A tool for continual improvement

The ILO advocates the implementation of an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS) as a tool for continual improvement in the prevention of workplace incidents and accidents. Experience shows that OSHMS is a logical and useful tool for the promotion of continual improvement of OSH performance at the organization’s level. Key elements for its successful application include ensuring management commitment and active participation of workers in the joint implementation.

Prevention, compensation and rehabilitation are three key components of social security. All these elements are jeopardized by the fallout from the financial and economic crisis. Recent research by the International Social Security Association has highlighted that social security revenue has been reduced significantly by the crisis, and that health costs are increasing as an additional effect. La convention (no 187) a été adoptée en juin 2006 et est entrée en vigueur en février 2009.
